| Original text | Αλλά κατά την παράδοση ήταν και κατά την διάρκεια του χορού επιτρεπτή και η φανερή πρόταση γάμου από μέρους ενός νέου προς την κοπέλα της προτίμησής του. Ο νέος μπορούσε να ρίξει ένα μαντήλι στον ώμο της, σημάδι της αγάπης του, κι αυτή αν συμφωνούσε άφηνε το μαντήλι στον ώμο της και συνέχιζε τον χορό. Αν είχε αντίρηση, έφερνε έναν χορευτικό γύρο κρατώντας το σε ένδειξη ευχαριστίας κι ύστερα το άφηνε να πέσει. |
| English translation | According to tradition, during the dance it was allowed to make a visible marriage proposal by a young man to a girl he preferred. The lad could throw a kerchief on her shoulder as a sign of his love, and if she agreed to it she would leave the kerchief on her shoulder and continue the dance. If she refused him, she would make a dancing circle while holding the kerchief in a thanksgiving gesture, and later on would let it fall to the ground. |
