Original text	Τον "ανδροπρεπή Ζεϊμπέκικο" τον προτιμούσαν οι καλλιτέχνιδες, ως περισσότερο θεαματικό, καθώς δικαιολογούσε τη χρήση ειδικών κοστουμιών και, μερικές φορές, ακόμη και μαχαιριών. Η εφημερίδα "Εστία" της 29 Ιουλίου 1901 γράφει για ένα θέατρο στο Θησείο, απέναντι από το θέατρο του Ηρώδου του Αττικού: "Ντυμένη ζεϊμπέκικα, με το φεσάκι της στραβά, το μεταξωτό σαλβάρι της και χρυσοκέντητο ζουνάρι με ασημοκαπνισμένη μάχαιρα, λιγώνεται εις αμανέδες, χοροπηδά ρυθμικά και χορεύουσα καρφώνει το μαχαίρι της στο πάτωμα. Οι τακτικοί πελάται τής φωνάζουν: - Θα μας κόψεις σαν το πράσσο με το μαχαίρι σου!.
English translation	The “virile Zeibekiko” is preferred by artists as being more spectacular, since it used to justify the use of special costumes and sometimes even knives. The newspaper “Estia” of July 29th 1901 writes about a theater in Thisseio, opposite the Theatre of Herodes Atticus: “Dressed in zeibekiko mode, wearing her fez astray, in silk salwar and gold-embroidered waistband, with silvered sword, she shrinks in amane, rhythmically jumps and while dancing, she stabs the floor with her knife. The regular customers shout: You will cut us with your knife like leeks!”
