| Original text | Ο γαμπρός, με ολόστητο κορμί, μ' ένα μεταξωτό μαντίλι στον λαιμό κι ένα κλωνί βασιλικό στ' αυτί, σηκώνει τη νύφη που "κουκκουμώνει" (καμαρώνει), και που με μικρά ρυθμικά βήματα, σεμνή και χαμηλόθωρη, αρχίζει το χορό μαζί του, ο ένας κατάντικρυ στον άλλο. Ο κόσμος τούς καμαρώνει, τούς χειροκροτεί και "πλουμίζει" τη νύφη "σπλιγγιάζοντας" (καρφιτσώνοντας) πάνω στο φόρεμα και στο πέπλο της χάρτινες λίρες, μονόλιρα και πεντόλιρα, όπως και ρίχνουν λεφτά στον δίσκο των μουζικάντηδων. |
| English translation | The groom, standing up, with a silk kerchief on his neck and a basile tweat at his ear lifts up the bride who is proud („koukoumonei”) and who with little rhythmical steps, modest and looking down, starts a danc iwth him, one n front f the other. The people are proud, they clasp their hands and the perform ploumisma, fixing onto bride's drees nd veil paper pounds (ie. banknotes), 1 pound notes or 5 pound notes, and they throw money on musicians' tray. |
