| Original text | Την Κυριακή του γάμου, το πρωί, η πεθερά ετοίμαζε ένα στολισμένο κουτί, κεντημένο, όπου έβαζε μέσα μερικές δραχμές. Το κουτί αυτό το κρατούσε η κουνιάδα ή η συνυφάδα της νύφης για να ξεχωρίζει από τις άλλες καθώς πήγαιναν στο σπίτι της νύφης. Χόρευαν επίσης μπροστά μια "σκούπα" στολισμένη με φούντες και χάντρες, και έναν στολισμένο καθρέφτη που έστελνε η πεθερά στην νύφη για να καθρεφτιστεί πριν από τον γάμο. Το "μπαϊράκι" το κρατούσε ο μπράτιμος (μπαϊρακτάρης) και το χόρευε μπροστά. |
| English translation | On Sunday, the day of the wedding, in the morning, the mother in law used to prepare a decorated box, beset, in which they put some drachmes. This box used to be held by the wife’s or the groom’s sister, in order for her to stand out on their way to the bride’s house. They used to dance in front of a broom, decorated with tassels and beads, and a decorated mirror which was a gift from the mother in law to the bride, to reflect herself on the mirror before the wedding. The ‘’bratimos’’ of the groom ( or else called ‘’bairaktaris’’) used to hold the ‘’bairaki’’ (a flag with a cross) and dance with it in the front. |
