| Original text | Κύπρος: Η μόνη περίπτωση που χορεύουν μαζί άντρας και γυναίκα στους κυπριακούς χορούς, είναι όταν χορεύει η νύφη με το γαμπρό στο γάμο. Ο χορός του αντρόυνου λέγεται επίσης χορός της νύφης. Συνήθως χορεύεται στη μελωδία του Τρίτου γυναικείου. Υπάρχουν και βιολάρηδες που για το χορό αυτό παίζουν διαφορετική μελωδία. Υπάρχουν μαρτυρίες για το χορό της νύφης ότι χορεύεται όχι από το αντρόυνο, αλλά από τη νύφη με την κουμέρα (κουμπάρα). Τα τελευταία χρόνια στα χωριά, όταν γίνονται "τραπέζια" στο γάμο, η νεότερη "ορχήστρα" θα παίξει το χορό του Αντρόυνου για να πλουμίσουν το ζευγάρι. Ο χορός αυτός είναι ο μόνος από τους παραδοσιακούς χορούς που χορεύεται τόσο συχνά στο σημερινό κυπριακό γάμο. Το πλούμισμα, το καρφίτσωμα χαρτονομισμάτων στα ρούχα του αντρόυνου, από τον 2ο Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο και μετά, αποτελεί, κατά τη γνώμη μας, την κυριότερη αιτία που χορεύεται ακόμα συχνά ο χορός αυτός. |
| English translation | The only case of a man and a woman dancing together in Cypriote dances is the dance of the bride with the groom during the wedding. The dance of the married couple is also being called the dance of the bride. It is usually being danced to the melody of the female Third. There are some fiddlers who play a different melody to that dance. There are testimonies of the bride’s dance being danced not by the married couple, but by the bride and the bride’s maid. In recent years, when people feast during the wedding, the newer “orchestra” plays the dance of the married couple in order to adorn the couple. This dance is the only traditional dance to often be danced during the Cypriot wedding. The adornment, the pinning of the banknotes on the clothes of the married couple is - in our opinion - the main reason for dancing that dance often even after the WWII and later on. |
