Michał Mizera

Assistant professor at the Faculty of “Artes Liberales” at the University of Warsaw, graduate of classical civilization class at the Nowodworski High School No. 1 in Cracow. He pursued individual studies at the Faculty of Philology at the Jagiellonian University that included Polish Philology, Theatre Studies and Classical Philology (Master thesis under the supervision of Professor Ewa Miodońska-Brookes on Tadeusz Zieliński’s “Attic Tales”). He completed his doctoral studies in the field of European Studies at the Faculty of International and Political Studies at the Jagiellonian University (PhD thesis under the supervision of Professor Małgorzata Sugiera on the idea of national theatre in Poland after 1989). He conductes courses at the Faculty of “Artes Liberales”, at the Institute of Classical Philology (University of Warsaw), at the Aleksander Zelwerowicz Theatre Academy in Warsaw and the Academy for Theatre Practices "Gardzienice". Tutor of students at the College of MISH and the College of "Artes Liberales". Tutor of Drama Scientific Circle. He cooperates with the Polish Children’s Fund in conducting a programme for exceptionally gifted pupils. Member of the Polish Society for Theatre Research. He organizes exhibitions, reviews and festivals. Director of theatre plays. Initiator of the Teaching Innovation Lab at the Faculty of "Artes Liberales" (University of Warsaw) and the Lusławice School at the European Krzysztof Penderecki Center for Music in Lusławice.

He is interested in the theory of contemporary theatre and the reception of Ancient culture, in particular in theatre and drama in Europe. In his work, he explores Polish and European modernism, especially the life and works of Tadeusz Zieliński and Stanisław Wyspiański. He is currently preparing for print an anthology of texts of Grzegorz Sinko and an edition of Bohdan Korzeniewski’s translations of Moliere’s plays for the PIW [State Publishing Institute].
